Sandy Skoglund at Telluride Gallery
Surreal installation artist and photographer
Exhibition opening March 5th from 5-8pm during Artwalk.
Sandy Skoglund wears many hats as a surreal artist. She designs massive installations, creates immersive environments, sculpts colorful figures and directs her own photo shoots. She attributes her leap into the visual art world to feeling as though she wasn’t normal.
In her work, Skoglund creates her own worlds by juxtaposing the mundane with repetitious "out of place" figures to create tension in an alternate reality. The human figures in her scenes are generally ambivalent of their surroundings. Her imagery brings about a conversation on political and social issues plaguing today's society.
